Serving my community as well as teaching students.
The community education classes for La Crescent High School have been used for service and professionally. Some of those have been for a small stipends but others have been offered free of charge to senior citizens.
A favorite activity is singing with the Coule Region Gospel Choir, a 100-member choir made up of people from 40 different churches. We sing at various churches throughout the year.
Another way I serve is through my clog dancing (see Hobbies). My group brings joy to many people through our performances, especially those at nursing homes.
Part of my being a Master Gardener involves volunteering in the community doing gardening projects for everything from my church's community garden to landscaping Habitat for Humanity houses.
I have also volunteered for USGS doing some office work when there was a need.
Working with international students has also been a favorite activity of mine. They broaden your thinking so much by learning about their cultures.
Finally, there are many activities I am involved with at my church including teaching, hosting people in my home, and being surrogate parents and grandparents to members in need.
